One Room Challenge: Coastal Charm Great Room Week 5

Happy Weekend! Hope you are having a relaxing day! Yesterday, it was around 98F, but today with, if you can believe it we are expecting rain on Monday or Tuesday, it was about 10 degrees cooler. I took the girls for their first swim in the pool day. Then later, Katelyn and I went into town to exchange her shoes for a bigger size. Can anyone tell me a secret to get my children to stop growing up so fast? Tonight, she is spending the night at a friend's house, and Lindsay and I are making brownies.

Here is my progress to catch you up!

Week 1       Week 2     Week 3

One week left, and I am really hoping I can pull this all together by next week. Really the only thing I have left to do is DIY my drapes, and pick up the coffee table.

Working on my gallery wall, I was looking at my sister in law's gallery walls, and she had some burlap, that I thought I'd like to add, and just like that, one of the reasons, why I love visiting blogs so much, is that y'all truly inspire me!

At, 2BeesinaPod, they show a DIY Burlap Canvas Beach Art. Perfect. The funniest thing with moving, is you can't find anything. My daughter knew where my shells were, and I spent about 15 minutes looking for my Sea Glass. I had one leftover canvas, I was looking for that perfect project, and this was the one I had been searching for. I love it!

On a very quick trip to HomeGoods today, in search of something for my Mother for Mother's Day, by great fortune, I found this faux hydrangea with jute around it's vase. It was just what I was looking for, but the price wasn't, it was $20. I remembered I had a $1 vase, I picked up for a Christmas project, I never used, that I thought would be perfect, so Katelyn and I ran into Michael's to pick up some jute, and a faux hydrangea in the shade of blue I love.

Here is my DIY Hydrangea with Jute vase for under $5. I used my Michael's coupon for the faux hydrangea, and the jute. It goes perfectly with my Home Goods candy dish, and my handpainted French end table. Check out last week, how I transferred the French graphic.

I am still looking for a couple more Art prints to showcase. This watercolor one I found from Minted's Wall Art. I love the vibrant blue and green colors as the swirl together. Reminds me of the ebbing of the ocean waves, it's entitled 'Under Water'!

  1. I love the coastal theme! Your faux hydrangeas from Michael's look great! I had no idea they had such nice ones. I have been meaning to fill a basket with white ones for the summer, so I'm going to have to check into this and take a coupon and get one every week! The French transfer on the table looks great. I'm going to follow the link to see how you did this. I have a little lap desk that I want to paint and this would be perfect for the top.
