A Week in CASL photos: August 17th- August 23rd

Happy Monday! Hope you all had relaxing weekends!
I enjoyed mine getting caught in a early afternoon monsoon,
while shopping for antiques up North!
It was incredibly cool and refreshing!
I told my children to run around in the rain.
You know your from Arizona, when
we actually like doing things in the rain,
and did it pour!
I'll give you more of an update on my visit up to Prescott, later this week!
What I like about doing a Photo365, is that I get to share with you a peek into what my week has been like, and possibly a sneak peek to what next week will bring. I've tried 365 Photo or Daily photo memes several times before, and surprisingly, I am getting farther posting my photos once a week, instead of once a day. It makes a big difference, and it's really nice to look back and see a slice of my day!
August 17th-Inside...Sweet juicy ruby red gems of a pomegranate!

August 18th- Logo....I only bake with C&H Sugar

August 19th- Hat....She is my little diva! Love my 'Lil Lindsay!

August 20th- Surprise-...My daughter got a real surprise when she found out that these
Glazed Lemon Zucchini muffins had vegetables in them!

August 21st- Starts with M....My daughter Marissa, and her dog his name starts with M!

August 22nd- Pathway....My favorite pathway would lead me to relaxation, and this one just happens to be
leading me to the beach!

August 23rd- Lighting...On our trip up to Prescott, I found this 1920's Pan Style Light fixture at the Antique Store. How gorgeous is this with it's original etched glass light globes and ornate embellishments?!

Master bedroom Coastal Color Palettes

Happy Saturday! This weekend, is looking like a real fun one over here! With the monsoons, drenching us with much needed rain, I can easily plant my rosebush, which I've been waiting to plant, because the ground has been so rock hard. Back to painting I go!

My husband and I were talking about painting the exterior of our house, because when we bought the house, although the paint isn't that bad,  it's not fresh! The sellers only touched up the areas, that needed it. Starting with our Fall check list, we decided to paint the whole exterior of the house, and start painting one room at a time! We're deciding on either his office, or the Master Bedroom. If you've been reading my little blog, then you know my husband and I don't seem to see eye to eye sometimes. In the Masterbedroom, we have this chocolate brown accent wall, which I really love, and he strongly dislikes it with a passion. We both agree however, that the room it self, ok, the inside of the house has been freshly painted, except it's too dark of a sandy tan, and I like light, not bright white, but when the sun goes down, I have to light a thousand candles that burn like the sun to see anywhere in the house. We have lights, but the color of the room gives off this bad lighting effect that really messes with my eyes. Here's a sample of the two tone colors. The Master bedroom, actually has three shades, one accent wall, two walls are medium, and the third wall is almost as light as I'd like, but it's still too dark.

Have you seen or used Design seeds before?

Design Seeds- Mental Vacation

Two of the walls are painted the 5th color and one wall is painted the 6th!

Design Seeds-Color of the Sea- The 4th color the chocolate brown is our accent wall!

Here are several color pallettes I'm using for Inspiration and
a couple Coastal Master bedroom Designs, I am using for inspiration, as well!

How serene and peaceful does this look? I love this color pallette the most!

This one is a little too white for me and I don't really care for the tile, but I do love the turquoise lamps, the rug, the dreamy light blue wall color, and the accent pillows.

I can not take my eyes off this ceiling. I love the gorgeous color!

This one, maybe just a little too white for me, but I love the throw and those shutters!

I love everything about this room, except the hanging canoe!
I'm pretty sure, I have this fear of it falling on top of me!

via DonnaElle

This one is my favorite, although it is also too white, I love the chandelier, and the pale blue through out. And that view! I wouldn't mind waking up to that every morning!
Which one of do you like the best?

Have a beautiful weekend!
Until next time!

On Monday, I had the sweetest call from my daughter in Washington. The rest of the week has been a blur of baking and painting!  It's looking like next weekend will be better for us to go up North! I'm going to finish up the hubby and me project! Before starting something new, look for an upcoming Fall project, featuring my favorite Mason jars!

Here are a couple of Favorite Things, I saw to start the weekend off Right!! I adore Lilies, and how charming is this coastal seashell basket, against the turquoise chippy door! Beautiful!

Fall tablescape from Lilacs and Longhorns

There is nothing I love more than a pop of color, and again I apologize for wishing it was Fall already, but I just couldn't help myself, those lil' white mini pumpkins are just too cute! I absolutely love the chalkboard and the gallery of plates, the large buffalo check chairs, with the pops of orange and blue colors. It simply feels like Fall!

DIY Chalkboard Dipped Planters via Lemon-Thistle

When the temperature starts to cool down more, I am going to be out, painting pots and planting my garden here at the new house. It was too hot when we moved in for me to really do anything. When I saw this DIY, for me it was perfect! I had a black thumb for so long, that is until my Lil' Lindsay started helping me in the garden, to help me remind me not to kill the plants!

5 Ways to Update your Bedroom for Summer

Dreams of a far away place, with sandy white beaches,
and charming cottages by the sea;
where one could go and spend time relaxing and refreshing
as if you were staying at a beautiful b&b,
is right where I want to spend my time in the Summertime.
This is what I immediately thought of,
on ways to refresh my bedroom
for better Summer Living with Parachute!

Recently, I learned about Parachute bedding, and the vision, it's entrepreneur, CEO Ariel Kaye, had of recreating the feel of an amazing hotel bedroom experience she had on a trip to Italy. She wanted to create an  affordable, premium line of bedding to ensure we get our best night of sleep! Her studio is based in Venice Beach, California, and as a direct-to-consumer bedding brand, Parachute  offers luxurious Egyptian cotton bed linens, woven in Italy. With Parachute, providing direct-to-consumer, the company's costs are unbelievably lower than standard retail. Another good thing to know about Parachute, they give back. They've partnered with Nothing but Nets, to provide an insecticide-treated bed net to protect from malaria-carrying mosquitoes. For every sale of their signature Venice bedding set sold, $10 is donated.

My hopes of an early fall were crushed this week,
when once again, we are experiencing another heat wave,
mixed with late afternoon intermittent rain showers,
bringing on the sweltering humidity.
Over the years of living in Arizona, I've learned how to prepare for Summer
and how to create a bedroom that is not only cool and refreshing,
but comfortable and relaxing.
With August still being a hot Summer month,
today I am sharing 5 easy ways to refresh a Bedroom for Summer.

via pinterest

1. Vintage fan
It's a well known fact, that temperature effects the way we sleep.
The cooler the temperature the easier and more comfortable we sleep.

Not all parts of Arizona, have central air,
and even though we do have A/C, I've found that running an oscillating fan,
helps to keep the cool air flowing.

It really helps relax and cools you down,
especially if you spend anytime out in the heat,
nothing feels better than a refreshing breeze,
as it blows through the room.

2. Crisp White Linen Sheets
There is nothing I love more after a long busy day, than to climb into smooth, white linen sheets, that feel cool and refreshing. This time of year, I usually leave off the top sheet, and opt for a thin, and airy down alternative duvet, instead of a heavy comforter or on cooler summer nights after a summer rain storm, when the temperature drops twenty or more degrees, I love to snuggle with a soft cashmere throw.

3. Soft, and Elegant Sateen Pillows

Another intersting fact about me is that I love big, comfy pillows. We have four on our bed, and I sleep with two of them. I like  big, soft, cool pillows, like clouds of comfort, that I can sink into. I almost fall asleep immediately as my head hits the proverbial pillow.

4.. Romantic scented candles

Growing up in Southern California, we didn't have central air,
so at night; this is from another time,
when you could leave your windows open,
and as I drifted off to sleep,
the cool night air brought the intoxicating scent of
Nighttime Blooming Jasmine, wafting on a breeze,
its fragrance took me off to dreamland.
Using candles, creates a relaxing atmosphere with
the aromas of jasmine, lavender and orange blossom.
giving a room a more romantic feel.
The mesmerizing glow of the candlelight, helps to create that dreamy mood.

5. Peaceful Wall Art

If I can't be near the beach,
then I might as well create a serene beach scene to look at.
Choosing a Wall art piece helps set a peaceful focal point to gaze at,
something that helps remind of the ocean waves as they rock you off to sleep.

How do you refresh your bedroom for Summer?

Hope you are staying cool and relaxing this weekend!!
Until next time!

Happy Fri-Yay! I'm so happy you came to visit me today! As busy as a week  as it's been here with Back to School, my children are finally all settled in. I'm back to finishing up painting a couple of projects that have been in the works. This weekend, I would like to finish one of them. Also this weekend, a new natural foods store is opening in Scottsdale, and I am going to the Grand Opening as well as get my haircut, and attend my first Milk Painting class. I am so glad it's Friday, I'm really looking forward to this weekend!

I've seen these baskets, so many times, they've been calling to me, everytime I pass them when I'm at HomeGoods, but didn't know where to put them or how to use them. What a clever idea to use them as Hanging gardening baskets.

A Week in CASL photos July 13th- July 19th

Happy Beautiful Monday! Hope you all had a relaxing weekend!

July 14th- Chaos- I waited for this storm all week, and while Chandler to the North and 15 miles South of us, enjoyed all the rain, I only saw about less than 10 minutes worth...But I did enjoy the 20 degree drop in temperature, even 90F with a cool breeze felt comfortable!
July 14th- Calm- I was hoping to take a pic of my lavender plant, but it died while I was out of town for the long holiday weekend, so I am sharing this picture of 'Lavender at Dawn'!
It's a perfectly calm dawn for a Monday morning!

July 15th- On my mind...Ice Cream...Yesterday, was #NationalIceCreamDay!
Here's my favorite flavor this Summer...Peach Cobbler IceCream

July 16th- Special to Me...This gorgeous bottle, is a gift from my SIL...she knows how much I love
Seahorses.

July 17th- Starts with T... A cup of 'Tea' of course!

July 18th- Book...Coming soon, a new book review for 'Infuse'...It's not just for water, this book gives some easy to follow recipes for infusing oils and spirits!

July 19th- Sign...This is a handpaited window sign I saw while on one of our trips to Prescott, AZ! It's from the ApplePan restaurant. They serve up an amazing breakfast, and the staff is always
friendly!

Weekend Randomness

The weekend slowly snuck up on me.

I've had my coffee, and now I'm enjoying an ice cold glass of sweet tea,
still waiting for the monsoon storm that we are expecting this weekend.

During the Summer, the weekends just melt in with the rest of the days of the week!
Today is an exception, it's a busy day over here, I've got my daughter's dresser I'm working on,
back to school items to cross off my list, a little mid-summer gardening, and I'm adding learning to sew to the mix!

Luxurious Spa Master Bath

Photo By Emily Minton Redfield; emrphotography.com

This is the master bath I've been dreaming of.
Calm and elegant, a master bath that I could transform into a spa getaway!
Leaving my cares behind, as I relax in this large soaking tub.
One thing I've been considering in investing, is transforming
our master bath into a spa bath!
Complete with crystal chandelier and fluffly robes and towels.

Here are some amazing ways to turn your bathroom into a weekend spa getaway,
without breaking the bank!

Aside from the extreme heat of the day living here in Arizona,
there is something magical that happens around dusk.
As the sun goes down, the night comes alive.
Dining al fresco doesn't have to be too much of a challenge living
here in the desert.
It's the perfect time to get out and enjoy the fresh air and entertain
with family and friends.

A couple of my favorite things, fresh flowers, citrus flavored drinks,
crusty French bread, cheese and a glass of wine!

The color Turquoise

Lilikoijoy.com

I began to wonder if it wasn't at all a coincidence that the
meaning of turquoise is calm and cooling
recharges energy and restores balance;
since living in a place that can be hot as hell
for 4 months out of the year, and that it
is mined in dry climates.
This gorgeous color just so happens to be my favorite color, and
I am swooning over this dresser.

Coral

If you are needing a good laugh, you really need to stop in
and visit my dear friend Benita. It's this post from her, that I think
of when I saw this.

I love all things coastal I absolutely love this faux coral,
and so now I am on a mission to find some
Sticks!!

Blackberries

What I love about blackberries, are that they perfectly sweet,
without being overly sweet!
They are a Summertime treat, not just to snack on,
but a treat to harvest.
Over even better yet still,
snacking on them while you are picking them!

For breakfast, I enjoyed a serving of my Blackberry-Cinnamon Cobbler,
with my cup of coffee.
After all, they are full of antioxidants and fiber .

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
Until next time,
