Happy Friday friends! So how was your week? We've had a great week! Spring is in full force here. Yesterday, I was lucky enough to see the very first bloom on my Pineapple Guava Tree!

This weekend my mother is coming down for a visit, and we are going to do a little shopping; antiquing, fabric shopping (for new pillows, and either IKEA or Home Goods). Last night, we rented 'Into the Woods'. I had mixed feelings. It is a great musical, and any movie Johnny Depp is in, I'm not disappointed, but the ending just seemed strange, and drawn out. My husband is funny. Since the master bedroom is downstairs, he's pushing to be moved into the new house this weekend, instead of next, because he doesn't want to walk up stairs any more. Go to love him!

I wait all week for this day! Friday Follow's are one of my favorite post, because I hope it helps you to find new and inspiring blogs to follow! Thanks to Pinterest and Instagram their Inspiration gave me so many ideas, with too many being my favorites, that  I would really love to share them all with you. I just don't want to take up all of your time, so here are a couple to spread the love and inspiration!

You all know how much I LOVE color! This is just what I needed to see! With moving, it's hard to stay inspired, when you are taking things down and all you can see are plain, bare walls. I wasn't sure about dyeing our brown eggs, just  how exactly they would turn out! I saw these, and was amazed how vibrant the colors truly are! So, next year, definitely dyeing our brown eggs!

 Also, this blog is simply beautiful!

I visit blogs, a lot!! At first, it seemed like this was my first time visiting her blog, but then the more I looked around, I remembered visiting before. This time I stayed a little while longer, and what drew me in the first time, was her style. My daughter Katelyn, has been asking to paint bird houses, and I kept thinking how sweet these birdhouses are, my daughter would love to do something like this!

Pretty in Light Pink

Happy Day before Friday!! This week has been really interesting so far. With this being the last week of school before Spring break, my children already got a  half day on Wednesday, and then they will get another half day on Friday. We spent the other half of yesterday at the dentist. As for plans for the weekend, we still haven't decided on visiting my family up North in Prescott, visiting family in California (which most likely we won't go until Summertime), or spending the weekend in Vegas. I've made great progress on my accent table. Forget the sander, it was taking to long, with all the layers of paint it had on it! I just primed it, and have it painted. Now, I just need to coat it with a clear lacquer to give it some shine! 

 

When it comes to my favorite colors, shades of blue, aqua and turquoise make the top. Then why am I posting about "Pretty in Pink", you may ask. For me, I think of pink as girly. When really for me pink is romantic, dreamy and enchanting! For today's post, I thought I'd share ways to decorate with light pink, without having the feeling of standing in a bright pepto-bismol pink room! Something classy, subtle and still be pink and pretty!

Living in the Southwest, I am loving the color combination of the blue agaves, the white walls, with this rose pink door. Reminds me of our gorgeous sunsets.

Doesn't this room feel cozy and warm? I love the color combination of the pillow, pale blue and pink! The decorated mantle and the pops of pink roses add just the perfect touch!

Love the crystal knobs and the light pink color of the dresser. Not really liking the lamp shade, but the dresser goes well with the gold mirror and the shabby chic white painted chairs.

Last but not least, one item in my home that I wouldn't care what color or shade of pink it was would be a Kitchen Aid mixer. My mother in law gave me mine for a wedding present 15 years ago, and with all the baking I do, it's finally getting time to replace it. Thinking my next one is going to be a Pretty Pink one! Whatcha think??

Valentine's Day Craft Part 4: DIY Valentine's Treasure Box

Happy Monday Friends! Next week, it's my daughter's birthday, and I wanted to handcraft  something with love for her. She's her momma's girl. She loves anything that's pink with hearts and roses. The other day, I'm waiting in line in the grocery store, and I found the new issue of Romantic Homes magazine.

  

 It featured a sweet trinket treasure box by Elyse Major. When I found my daughter's treasure box was my old sunglass case, I knew this would make a sweet gift for her to cherish for years to come. I admit it, I want to make one for myself, and put some sea shells on it, and treasures from our family vacations to the beach.

Her book tinkered treasures has many more easy to make projects to cherish.

This is a fun and easy craft for all ages. My daughter had a blast painting the popsicle sticks with the paint I had left from the Shabby Chic picture frames we did last week. I found a Victorian Rose free clip art, and added some glitter and sparkle.

The best part, my daughter thought it was the coolest thing.

Valentine's Day Craft: Part 3 : DIY Dollar Store Shabby Chic Distressed Picture Frame with Valentine Printable

Happy Monday! Hope you had a great weekend! I've been working on a couple painted furniture projects. Lately, I feel like I just want to paint something!!

Today I am sharing a new love of mine, (which has been a trend for awhile now, that I am just now finding out about) , is to take something old or new and turn it into something shabby and chic.

My husband actually laughed last night, when he's been a woodworker for about ten years now, and was wondering why it's taken me this long to start wanting to do this. It's nice that he can appreciate, when I am trying to do learn something new that I enjoy doing.

Last week, I picked up two wooden oak frames at the Dollar store,  some Acrylic paint (Parisian Pink and Antique White) at Michael's, 3 foam brushes for $1, and my husband had some fine grain sand paper.

First I sanded the frame down, to not only help the acrylic paint adhere to the wood, but to start giving it that distressed older look. Looking at old frames, they seem to take the most wear on the corners and the edges.

Next, I painted the frame first in pink, and let it dry completely. After it dried completely, I sanded down the frame, again on the corners and edges, until I got the shabby look I was after. Over the pink, I painted the Antique White. Once it dried, I carefully sanded the corners and edges, to expose very little wood, I was after a pop of pink to come through. That's it. Super Easy.

I actually made two frames, the first one, was pink on antique white, which I didn't see to much antique white pop through, so that's when I tried the second frame with the Antique white on the pink. They both looked like old Shabby Chic frames without a piece of Art to show case.

 Saturday, I am so excited, I'm not only going to my first Flea Market, but I picked up some lovely mint colored paint to redo my old console table. Here's the picture that caught my inspiration. I absolutely loooove this color. It's La Fonda Mirage by Valspar.

A Week in CASL Photos: January 15th- January 21st

  January 15th- Old- It was 10 years ago, I visited this Antique store in Chandler, AZ. Lately, I have this obsession with Shabby Chic distressed dressers. It was fun browsing all the booths, with their collectibles, and antique furnishings. If you are ever in Chandler, look in on Urban Bliss. She has so many lovely things.

 

  January 16th- Nature- Thought this was unusual to have the leaves changing color in January....I guess anything is possible in Arizona.
January 17th- Jump- It has been super nice weather we've been having. Took the girls over to the park after school for a little playtime. It's always fun to swing as high as you can and then Jump!!  

 

January 18th- Today is...Another Valentine's project...Tinted Mod Podge and dollar store items, for a Valentine's Candy Dish.

 

January 19th- Home made- My husband has been asking since the New Year for an Pineapple Upside Down Cake. After all the fudge, chocolate and baked cookies from Christmas, I really wasn't feeling like anything too sweet. These Pineapple Upside Biscuits were perfect. Slightly sweet, buttery, (because we have to have our biscuits buttery now) and were the perfect sweet treat!

 

January 20th- Window- Stained glass with sun shining through the window. Part 2 of my Valentine's Craft ideas.

 

January 21st- In a row- I love citrus this time of year. Lemons and oranges are not only colorful, but Vitamin C is very good for you if you are fighting off a cold or the flu. Dinner last night was Lemon Roasted Chicken with Red Potatoes and Carrots.

With the weather as nice as it's been I was actually able to get out in the garden, pruning my roses and cutting away the dead branches from my dormant bushes. Getting some thoughts together of what I want to plant for the Spring.
